A planning permit application for a four-storey apartment building containing 11 dwellings and five townhouses over a basement on Glen Waverley’s record braking prime site has been approved by Monash Council.

The corner block site at 17 Marriott Parade, Glen Waverley caused turmoil back in April 2015 when it sold for $4.71 million. Adjoining site, 15 Marriott Parade was sold for $2.4 million and together, these sites combined have smashed residential sales records in Monash, selling over the $7 million mark.

The site is in a prime location on a combined area of 2169 sqm corner block opposite the Ibis hotel and Monash City Council.

The 11 large apartments and the 5 townhouses designed by Architeria Architects are all spacious with generous size living/dining and balconies. 10 of the apartments are 4-bedroom apartments with 2-3 bathrooms in each and one a 3-bedroom apartment. Generous Walk- In Robes and bathrooms with his and hers and some apartments separating the rest of the bedrooms by allowing for large living spaces in between. Spacious butlers’ pantries in the modern kitchens and open living areas for families to enjoy modern day living. Considerable terraces and balconies offer a low maintenance lifestyle and that desired indoor/outdoor living for residents accessing their private terraces through sliding doors.

The two components – the townhouses and the apartment building are connected by a second-floor communal space above the driveway entrance, creating a landscaped boulevard; a peaceful oasis for the residents to enjoy.

The modern contemporary architecture is prominent with its curved features and shapes.

This development offers plenty of both space and privacy with all the amenities such as The Glen shopping Centre and entertainment, cafes, and restaurants in the vibrant Glen Waverley Centre within walking distance.

Mel Gawi, Principal Architect of Architeria Architects describes this building as a good response to the times we live in. Living in an apartment should be a choice where you do not have to compromise comfort. We have pre-dominantly had a backyard culture in Australia, however with the increasing demand for apartments as living near activity centres and transport certainly have its perks I feel that architects have a responsibility to offer diversity to people who choose this lifestyle. Choosing a low maintenance living should not always have to be associated to living in small spaces. The Marriott Parade apartments as well as the townhouses have that community feel without losing the sense of privacy and the façade despite its modern looks is inviting and interesting.

It has been a joyous journey to design a livable apartment building of this nature” said Mel Gawi. “As the site sits on the fringe of all activity, I believe the architecture will not only blend in with the higher density buildings across the road, but be a positive contribution to Glen Waverley in general.
